They always say to expect the unexpected. Little did I know the unexpected also meant the unthinkable.
No longer a wife or a mother, what was once a full and meaningful life was now obliterated; leaving me with nothing but darkness in its place.
Blazing bright and determined to bring me back to life, Lior came knocking on darkness’ door. Gentle, yet fierce; he was armed in warmth and healing.
He was powerful, persistent and prepared for war.
I just don’t know if I’m willing to fight or ready to fall.

Wow. There are no words to describe my feelings after reading this book. This is my first experience reading a book by Marley Valentine and it will for sure not be my last. Valentine has a gift of bring stories to life to the point that a reader is draw into her stories. We are able to feel her characters feelings. I cried with Evie and grew frustrated with Loire. I honestly can not say I have had this of an emotional reaction to a book in a very long time.
The subject matter in this story is not for the faint of heart. The title does it justice. Devastated, is the best word to categorize the experiences Evie has gone through prior to the stories. She is unable to continue to function normally so she shuts down to doing the bare minimum. Those around placate her, but then she meet Loire or better yet their souls find out another and he brings light back into her world. This is an amazing stop about love and lose that we will all learn something from.
Valentine has blown this one out of the park. The emotions of each character, both primary and secondary, just leap of the pages and take route in your soul as you read the story. I will carry this story with me for as long as I live.
