Book Review: Trashy Foreplay (Trashy Affair #1) by Gemma James

Goodreads Synopsis:

Never flirt with temptation.
Never lust after what I can’t have.
And never, under any circumstances, screw a married man again.

By the time this story is told, I’ll have failed at all three…

With my heart and reputation in ruins, I can’t afford to make another mistake. Boarding a flight to Seattle is supposed to give me a clean slate, but from the moment Cash Montgomery slides into the seat next to mine, I’m captivated by his steel eyes that see too much. I ache for this stranger in a way I’ve never ached for anyone.

But I didn’t know he was married, and I sure as hell didn’t see the curveball fate had in store. My clean slate in Seattle isn’t so clean after all because my new boss is the man forbidden to me.

And the only man I want.

The only man I’ll do anything for, even if it means breaking the promise I made to myself when I fled my old life in shame.

I wasn’t supposed to fall for a married man, but I did.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: Though the subject matter deals with cheating, there are no innocent parties here. Book 1 in the Trashy Affair series

Chick and Brain Rating 5 out of 5

I have received this ARC in exchange for an honest review

In the spirit of giving an honest review, I was seriously regretting signing up for this ARC. I do not handle books about cheating well. Its not a hard limit for me, but it is something I feel strongly about so I tend to stay away from the subject matter. However, I made the commitment to read the book so I was going to do it. I put off for as long as I could, and honestly I have NO IDEA why I put it off for so long. Yes, there is cheating, but Gemma says it best in the synopsis “there are no innocent parties”. So my advice as someone who has issues, just read the book! Then and only then can you make the conclusions about the story, I for one ended up LOVING it and personally can not wait to find out what happens next.

Trashy Foreplay focuses on the stories of Cash and Jules. Cash thought that his life was perfect, but one text message is able to burst that happy bubble for ever. Jules made one mistake, one mistake that cost her everything.  They are both running from the pain they have just started to take over their lives and they happen to have a chance meeting with each other on a flight to Seattle. These two had an instant connect, that was undeniable. It was as if the fates had put them together, but it was neither the right time or place for them to be together. Sometimes fate has a mind of its own, can these two resist the temptation or will their desire for one another out way everything else.

James takes a sensitive subject and makes it her own. The characters that she has written grip us from the first word. We want to cry for Jules, even though on the surface she was the one that was in the wrong. Our heart breaks for Cash, even though this entire situation with Jules is of his doing. The more we read the more we begin to root for these characters. James writes each character as if they are intergal to Cash and Jules relationship. Without each individual character, we would never have been able to reach the cliffhanger ending James gives us!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to be surprised. This was not what I expected, thank heaven for that. I can not wait for the next installment to be released.
Until next time,
