Review: Blood Sacrifice (Kyn #2) by Mina Carter

Goodreads Synopsis:

To be as good as them, she has to be better…
A female warrior in a world of men, Vixen has spend most of her life proving herself. The only female kyn to carry warriors marks, she’s as deadly as the blades she wields night after night, protecting the innocent from the bloodlusts and savagery of the rogue vampires that plague their society. But everything comes with a price. Proving herself a warrior means no man sees her as a woman and other women see her as a freak. Even though she’s locked down her feelings, she’s never been able to squash some very female thoughts where fellow warrior, Kalen, is concerned.

Asked to stand in as a bridesmaid at the king’s wedding, Vixen must face her toughest challenge yet… appearing in a dress rather than her warriors leathers. And she’s not the only one surprised by the change…

The female of the species is definitely more deadly than the male, especially this one…

Kalen has had his eye on Vixen for years, but he’s not stupid enough to try his luck, not when she shuts him down at every opportunity. But a stolen moment in the garden at the king’s wedding and the hottest kiss he can ever recall shatters his carefully constructed indifference. Vixen is his… until his ex-wife steps in and Vixen thinks he’s playing her for a fool. Getting back into her good graces isn’t going to be easy, not when he manages to screw things up with her at every step.

But when Vixen is kidnapped, and a challenge fight goes horribly wrong, will he be prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice rather than lose her forever?

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

Another first time read for me, but it has all the right things to peak my interest. Carter does not disappoint with the second installment of the Kyn series Blood Sacrifice. Again, I was unaware that this was not the first book in the series but I do not think I missed out on anything by reading it first. I will for sure go back and check out the first one to make sure I know what all these amazing vampires are about!

This particular installment is about Kalen and Vixen. Both have not had the easiest time in the past, so you would think it would be easy for them to find the road to one another. We could not be any more wrong. Kalen is a snarky misogynistic vampire that thrives on tormenting Vixen on a daily basis. Vixen is the only female Kyn in a world of all males, she must fight tooth and nail on a daily basis to gain respect.  When Vixen is asked to protect her future queen on the way to her wedding, every Kyn male begins to see her in a different light including Kalen. After that night, neither Kalen and Vixen are able to deny their attraction to one another any longer but Vixen will not go down without a fight.

Carter is able to grab our attention immediate from the first sentence and bring us into the world of the Kyn Warrior. This story IS NOT and insta-romance based on its length, but a long drawn out story about two characters that have to find themselves in order to be together.Vixen is a strong female character that has had to fight for everything that she has in life. Kalen has not had the easiest time when it comes to love, so giving his heart to just anybody is not the case. All the characters in their story must work together to help these two figure out that they belong together before it is too late. This story is perfectly paced with amazing characters that we can not help but fall in love with.

This a page turner and perfectly paced to ensure that you will not be able to put it down. I can not wait to read the next one!

Until next time,

XOXO
