Review: HIS Girl (HIS Collection #5) by Aria Cole

Goodreads Synopsis:

Hawk Larson left small-town Indiana to become one of the most famous quarterbacks on the planet, throwing winning passes for the Bears and living the dream. Life looked picture-perfect from the outside, but after five years, he still can’t shake the memory of the one thing he left behind…the girl who owned his heart and crushed it one fateful night.

After an injury benches Hawk for good, he returns to the town he left, confronting the past and running headfirst into an unexpected future.

Life hasn’t been easy in the five years since he left, and Morgan Quinn isn’t the same girl she once was, her luscious hourglass curves and stubborn streak the only reminders of everything he left behind. She still rattles him to the core and leaves him craving more, but Morgan has a secret. A secret that may change the game for good.

Warning: When Hawk finally sees his Morgan again, he isn’t sure if it’s love or hate he’s feeling, until fireworks fly at first touch and passion overcomes reason, leaving Hawk with the realization that he must protect his girl at all costs.

Chick and Brain Rating 5 out of 5

I graciously received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Aria Cole is on of my new favorite authors, so it is no surprise that I was very excited for this novella. This particular book in the novella took a different perspective on the Dd/Lg scenario and down played it which was to my personal liking. Cole chose to focus more on the relationship between the characters and their story. Trust me, this short novella is still packed full of the dominating Daddy everyone is looking for, it is just not to focus and does not dominate the entire plot.

HIS Girl is a story about Hawk and Morgan. These two have been in love for as long as they knew what love was. However, when Hawk was given the chance of a life time  to have a professional football career Morgan knew that she had to let the lover of her life follow his dreams. By doing so she broke both of their hearts in the process. Hawk plays out his football career until he has a career ending injury and returns home to the only place he has ever wanted to be. Morgan has stayed in their home town raising their daughter (yea you read that right) to the best of her ability while nursing her broken heart, but when Hawk returns home and tells her he plans to stay everything she has worked so hard to forget comes rushing back. No matter how hard she tries, Hawk will have his girls and there is nothing Morgan can do to stop him.

This is an amazingly short novella with a lot of heart that delves into the subject of first loves. Cole does an amazing job of showing us that true love can stand the test of time. These characters can be anyone of us and can even be a guide to us on what to expect from our own lives and love for the future. Fortunately for us this story had an amazing epilogue so we were able to continue the story of this small little family after they were reunited.

I can not wait to read some more of Cole’s writing as she is one of my new favorites, but what is best about the HIS collection is we get different perspective from different authors that we may not have read before all touching on the same subject, a Daddy’s love for his Little Girl. I highly recommend this book or any book in this series for anyone that is looking for a new author to start reading!

Until next time,
