Carver Jones’ partner at Jones + Gallum had to step down for medical reasons. He’s absolutely devastated. He swears. Just ignore his cheeky grin, okay?
When word reaches his fancy corner office that Gallum is replacing himself with his daughter, Amity, Carver is ecstatic.
For real this time.
Jones squashes men in the business industry flat. A woman? Pfst. He’ll be completely in charge in no time, doing whatever he wants. He’s so ready for this.
But is he ready to fight the hardest fight of his life? No, not the one to maintain control of his company. The one to keep control of his heart.
The battle may begin in the boardroom, but the war will definitely be won in the bedroom. May the best sex win.
Chick and Brain Rating 4 out of 5
I have graciously received this ARC from the Author in exchange for an honest review
Again with the first time author for me! I have the best luck when it comes to these. Adrianna Locke is definately going to be added to my list of favorites. This enemies to lovers romances is witty and seriously pulls at your heart-strings. This is a quick and sexy read that will be perfect for the pool or beach while on vacation. I will for sure be checking out more of Locke’s writing in the future.
Battle of the Sexes is about Carver Jones and Amity Gallum both wanting to follow in their father’s foot steps. Carver has been working at Jones + Gallum for as long as he can remember, so when Amity’s father decides to step down Carver believes he is a shoe in for the job, or maybe not. Here comes Amity to take away all of his glory. Carver is expecting the shy bookworm of a girl that he last saw when they were 16 years old, but he did not get what he expected. Amity Gallum is a take no prisoners kind of woman and currently she has her sights set on Carver Jones. Since the day she last saw Carver she has wanted nothing more than to crush him. However, once these two set eyes on each other again all their preconceived notions go out the window. The battle then begins between themselves both inside and outside of the boardroom, which one wins well you better read it to find out!
Locke does an amazing job of weaving a love story into Corporate America. The entire novella flows very well and has a natural progression along with the progress of the “battle” that Amity and Carver are having for their position at Jones + Gallum. We learn about the characters through their interactions with one another as well as with other secondary characters as well. Even with this story being a novella all the characters are very well-rounded and are given a substantial backstory so we are not left with many questions as to the progression of the story. Amity and Carver’s interaction with one another are entertaining and down right hilarious adding an entertainment factor to the story to rounds the novella out nicely.
Locke writes a hilariously funny realistic story that is very unpredictable. You are left guessing about the outcome until the very end. The chemistry between all the characters leaps off of the pages. This is definitely a book that I will recommend once it is released.
Until next time,
